You’re saying goodbye to the gap in your front teeth and the reluctance to smile when you take photos. And the experts on Invisalign in Lincoln Park are ready to guide you to the smile you desire.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an alternative to metal and wire braces.  It consists of clear, plastic aligners that encourage your teeth to adjust to the smile you desire over time. You receive new trays every two weeks that continue the straightening process until your ideal position is achieved. Your Invisalign aligners can be worn in your everyday life without the worries of bulky material crowding your mouth, or alerting the whole world that you have braces.

Furthermore, your aligners should be removed before eating, and your gums, mouth and teeth thoroughly cleaned before re-insertion.

Is Invisalign Right for You?

There are certain factors that determine whether Invisalign will work for you.

  • The Degree of Severity – Invisalign works well in straightening your teeth, but in cases of severe crookedness and large overbites, more advance methods are required.
  • What Invisalign Corrects – it can help correct gapped teeth, overbite, underbite, open bite, overly crowded teeth and crossbite.
  • Age as a Factor – Children younger than 13 are not candidates for Invisalign, because their teeth are still growing, but for adults there’s no age limit.
  • Discipline – Are you disciplined enough to wear your aligners 20-22 hours a day, the required time for them to deliver the results you desire? If so, then Invisalign can work for you.

How the Process Works

The process begins with an initial diagnosis with X-rays, pictures, and impressions of your mouth. After your aligners are fabricated, you will return to be fitted. You’ll come back every two weeks for new aligners thereafter.

For most adults, Invisalign treatment takes around a year. For teenagers, however, this process could take up to three years.

The Advantages of Invisalign

One great advantage of Invisalign aligners is that they allow you to maintain a level of oral health care unmatched by traditional braces, because they can be removed. This allows you to thoroughly rid your mouth of harmful bacteria and prevent gum disease.

Another advantage is that while wearing your aligners, you don’t have to feel ashamed of your smile. You’ll have the ability to function with confidence from day one, knowing that with every new set of trays your smile will get better.
